Just purchased silver ceramic coated headers for my wifes lightning. Anyone had any experience with these? How easy are they to instal? Does the color last?

I can't say if the color will last since I have never used coated headers, but I would think they should be color fast. Installation should not be hard at all.

I am being told that the motor has to be dropped in order to have the headers installed.....:(

I have never installed headers on an XB model, so they may be right. I will look into it and get back to you. I know you don't need to drop the engine on a tube frame model, I have istalled a few headers on these models.

Unfortunately from what I have seen you have to drop the motor to get the header off. If you can figure out how to remove the o2 sensor you should be able to wiggle it out without moving the engine.

Dropping the motor isn't as hard as it seems. Really all you have to do is rotate it about 3 inches forward.

If your interested in getting rid of the old header please let me know, I'm in need of a new one.

Thx.

It can be done with out the motor being dropped but willmost likely be less aggrevation and easier to drop the motor. Ceramic coated headers are awesome and will last a long time. What brand did you get?
