can't get past 2nd gear on 04 Buell Blast. Completely blocked out of 3rd. no grinding, just blocked out. Possible easy fix or likely major transmission repair?
Any ideas? This is a driver training unit and gear shifter may be bent...

Could be a bent shift fork. I haven't been in a Blast, but, yeah, could definitely require going in, certainly. But hard to know via the internet what's happening really.

Any input on how to prime oil pump or lube engine before cold start of rebuilt engine ? We are nervous about cranking it over - we bathed parts in oil when re-assembling bottom and top end, but I'm worried about the oil pump being completely dry - I don't understand this set up or how to prime it.
Update: We ended up splitting the cases to replace a shifter fork and shifter drum ( it turned out that the drum had a small burr/damage on it that jammed and prevented one of the shifter forks from sliding which explained why it would not change gears - although we replaced the tranny parts, all we had to do was file away the small burr on the drum and even the old parts were ok.
Anyway,- the bike is rebuilt and we are getting ready to cold start the engine?
