Just got the factory service manual for my '09 1125R and was skimming it to check it out. Found out that you have to "rotate the engine" to change the rear spark plug! Don't the engineers/designers talk to each other???

I sure won't try that myself......guess I'll save my pennies till the 12K mile mark. That's just plain messed up!

So...How much work to rotate the engine to do that? 1 or 2 hours all said and done??

Not sure. The dealership has a listing of service prices and the 10K mile service is $495 :eek:. The maint. schedule in the service manual notes "spark plug change and valve adjustment check" is at 12K miles....probably the same as the noted 10K service. Sounds like Ducati prices! Oh well, big boy toys ain't cheap, that's for sure.

Sure sounds like things get more costly in this new buell, YA know yeah they have more top end , but as far as Torque goes my xb12R with just a few mods, makes more Torque and at lower revs. seems the fun factory is alot better with the old xb series than these NEW 1125s....

IF I wanted to go fast on the top end, then maybe thet are good for that but my xb goes around 135 to 140 mph Does one really need any more than that LoL...!

Yeah, I have 3 other bikes that'll do 180+, so I didn't buy the Buell for that. The 1125R is as agile as the Japanese bikes in the curves & tight twisties. I was truly surprised and pleased with handling overall. You have to pedal really hard to keep up with the other liter bikes, but that's the fun. It really exercises your skills. I'm really glad I bought this bike!:D

I did read something that mentioned only a few bolts to rotate the motor forward. Another benefit of the 72 degree V.

Doubt I'll ever have to worry about spark plugs or valve adjustments.....It won't run long enough without problems so I can stack up any miles. Been in the shop for nearly a month all together.....the first 2 weeks I owned her (defective engine part) and now the last two weeks with a different problem (clutch fluid leak). :(:confused::mad::mad:

Woopie!!! I also have a new problem...yipee!!! The OEM muffler exits onto the rear brake rotor. The constant heat "rainbowed" the metal. Didn't think that was too cool, so I installed a Jardine RT-5 slip-on. That exits onto the swingarm. I took a 200 mile ride yesterday. When I got back, the swingarm now has a colorful "rainbow" in the powdercoat and the Delrin swingarm spool looks like a lump of charcoal:D Whoop de doo!!!! The "hits" just keep on coming!!! Geez, the bike's been in and out of the shop for a total of 5 weeks. A downright refreshing "Made in America" experience, I tell you what!!:rolleyes: I'd sell it if I wouldn't take such a big hit.
