Hi everyone as a new guy to the foums i'm hoping to meet a lot of cool people here as well as learn a lot about the blast.

i bought my blast in june of last year and it hasn't ran right since about two weeks after i got it. It will idle fine and ride fine occasionally but has a problem with backfiring even then, but most of the time i crank it and it will idle fine but when i even barely touch the throttle it will sputter and die. wandering what the problem could be if i could get any help. The only modification done to the bike is a Vance and Hines exhaust and i have already cleaned the carburetor.

sounds like you need to replace the carb boot. Thats a first for every new blaster. Also its recommended that you re-jet the carb since you have the after-market exhaust.

I had this with my 01 Blast, she would idle around 1000 rpm. When trying to run it she'd have no power in the throttle and just bogg out. I thought it was the throttle cables or plates going. All i did was take the intake out clean the whole intake and filter and just areas surroundig the carb. It's fine now runs perfectly. Im pretty sure it was just cold starts for me, trying to run it right after i started her. If its the same as my problem clean the intake and air filter and let her sit for 5-10 minutes before you take off. Hopefully you've got it all figured out by now anyways!

I thought cleaning out the airbox, filter and carbs did it. It didn't. She ran strong for a good week after then while i was on the highway she just gave out, engine just stopped. Got her started again on the shoulder but when i gave it any gas she'd die. Thought she was out of gas but idled for a good 30 minutes before CAA got there. Shes sittin in Rockys Harley Davidson right now being looked after. I'll let you know what the problem was

Check your intake for leaks. You said you "cleaned" the carb? Did you take it all apart to do that? Spray carb cleaner around your intake and carb while its idleing, if your rpms go up you found your leak. What do the plugs look like?
