Hello - I'm new to this forum, a long time rider but never owned a Buell. I like the look of the older ones - the late 90's / 2000 / 2001 M2 cyclones, but have been told they have problems and avoid them.

Can anyone give me the scoop on this? Are they a problem machine in general or is there certain components that can be replaced to make them reliable?

My other option is a ZRX...fast, no tech problems, but I'm bored of inline fours.

Thanks
RonM :)

I am currently riding a 97 S1 Lightning. My brother previously owned it since new. Bike has about 20,000 miles on it. He just replaced a couple of bearings in the transmission. That was a fairly costly hit. Other than brakes and a front rotor and speedometer drive gear no other issues. This bike has been very reliable and still runs like a top. You won't like the seat.

Hello Dan: Thanks for the info. I like the look of those older machines...very cool. I almost bought a ZRX then had a sudden mood of rebelliousness and fell prey to a 2003 XB9S. I pick it up sometime in January, I think I'm going to really like it.
