Changing/Cleaning Air Filter on 2009 XB12XT

Sorry everyone, but being new to the Bull family, and trying to dodge the overpriced local HD dealers asking price to service my air filter, I'm attempting to do it myself.

I've removed the Buell cover and I am now looking at the airbox cover that has a fuel line running over the top, along with other cables as well. Wg=hat is the suggested way to properly access and remove the air filter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

release the clips holding the cover, move any hoses or wires that are in the way, remove the cover and filter and run it through the dishwasher. Do not use the dry cycle.

What about just getting a K&N? Any bad experiences with those?

you can buy a new filter or you can wash and reuse what you have..... hot water and dawn dish soap works good, tap out what dirt you can, use your air compressor and blow out some ... then dipping in soapy water, use a little agitation, . have it sit in it for a bit... take out and air dry, meaning put in the sun... no pressurized air..
