M2 Rear shocks: what will fit?

Being a Sportster rider, I need some help with a M2 problem I`m trying to solve for a friend. The guy rides a M2 2001mod and needs to get back on the road. His rear shock is beyond salvage and needs to be replaced, but the dude being such a lazy ass (bike have been in the garage for the last 2 years), I thought I`d give him a push by buying it for him as a bithdaygift.
However when I started to look for a mono shock for his bike I realized it was harder to find than expected!

So the question is:
- What rear shock will fit to a M2 2001 model?
- Where can I get it?

Really hope there is someone out there who can help me getting this Buell rider back on the road!

there are 2 different shocks... a 16.5" and the updated 14.5" (measurements between eyelets. It depends on which shock fits by which front shock mount the bike has. Being a 2001 it most likely has the updated 14.5". You can either find a used Showa shock on ebay or a penske or works shock from americansportbike.com
