Another quick oil filter question
I'm new to the Buell experience but with 4 months of ownership on my 1999 S3, bought originally and serviced at Bartel's Harley in Marina Del Rey, Ca ...I'm on a cloud. Motorcycle JOY. I've had my MC license since I was sixteen, 20 years now and I'm floored I didn't get on a Buell before this past summer. This won't be my last Buell.
I recently had a tranny/clutch and crkcase oil changed at a Harley shop (manual hadn't arrived yet) and later inquired and found out they put the cheapo oil filter on. As I've been doing the normal due dil I've decided on either the Amsoil or...
Also based on micron filtration I've considered using the Pure one. I talked to a tech at Pure one and despite the disclaimer on their site he told me that it would not be restrictive (I told him I would be replacing @1k mi intervals) Although the site specs list the bypass valve pressure a little higher he said that would not be an issue unless I was in considerably cold weather or if I ran the filter past saturation. Neither in my case. He also went on to say that the most restrictive area of any filter is the anti-drain-back flap and that their media is not restrictive. Their efficiency rating however is based on a 3 GPM flow rate. He was very confident that there would be no restriction issues.
I am curious to know what the GPM flow would be for a 1203 tuber... at idle and at highway speeds (RPM).
I would go Amsoil in a heartbeat if I didn't feel good about it. The PureOne is inexpensive superior filtering and according to this engineer would not be restrictive at my change out interval.
